The waters of the Mississippi Sound will soon be filled with top-tier sailing competition as the Ocean Springs Yacht Club prepares to host the 2026 Hobie 16 International Championships from 14-25 September. This premier championship regatta will bring together hundreds of the world’s most skilled sailors to battle it out for the title.
Spectators can expect a thrilling display of tactical racing and high-speed maneuvers. The 2026 Hobie 16 International Championships will feature windward-leeward courses in the qualifying and championship rounds, and include Masters, Grandmasters, Great-Grandmasters, Women and Youth fleet racing, challenging competitors to adapt quickly and showcase their pure sailing abilities.
A featured event between the two sailing series will be the Horn Island Raid, a raid-style race out to Horn Island, a thrilling 14-mile trek from the starting area, where competitors will be treated to a picnic, cold drinks, and music before the competition heats back up with a race back to the Ocean Springs Yacht Club.
Registration for the 2026 Hobie 16 International Championships is currently open, with an early bird discount until 01 June 2026. Shipping grants are available for international teams.
